The Peacock Eye or tail feather is made up of a great many individual strands, each with its own unique properties such as its color, length, stiffness, or frizzyness. Purchasing the entire tail feather allows the tyer to select just the right strand or herl for their needs. The fibers of a peacock eye can be palmered to make collars or bodies on nymphs (Prince Nymph) and dry flies (Royal Wulff). It can be used in conjunction with other materials to construct wings on streamers, or the eye itself can be tied in massive saltwater patterns. Regardless of the usage, Peacock Eyes will add a great deal of realism and "bugginess" to your flies.
