The unique bend of the SA250 shrimp hook makes it suited to bendbacks and other hook-up style flies. There's plenty of gap to work with and the straight shelf at the front of the hook provides plenty of space for tying on material. The degree of bend creating the "shelf" has the added advantage of placing the hook point directly in line with the direction of pull, resulting in a better hookup rate over traditional bendback-style hooks. The Ahrex SA250 hook also works great for a Clouser variation with the eyes placed just past where the bend starts.
